France Revives Financial Aid To Mauritius

Following an announcement by the World Bank last month, France has also offered $30-million in form of aid to Mauritius in order to revive its economy in the 2006/07 economic year.

According to Eric Noitakis, head of the French economic mission to Mauritius, the pledged of $30 million is most likely to be given through budgetary aid.

Mauritius’s textile industry had earlier suffered a breakdown in early 2005 after the World Trade Organization multi-fiber agreement (MFA) withdrew its aid.
